To ensure peaceful, transparent and free elections in 15 districts of the Punjab province, the police have finalized a comprehensive security plan for the by-polls.
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khan Baig finalized the security plan during a meeting held at the CPO today. A number of senior police officers were also present on this occasion.
More than 38,946 policemen would be deployed around 3580 polling stations in 15 districts of the Punjab province to ensure foolproof security during the by-polls.
According to details, at least 24090 officials of district police, 3100 officials of the Punjab Constabulary, 5127 Police Quami Razakars (PQRs), and 6104 officials of the special police force would be deployed on election duties in the province.
At least 525 personnel of the Elite Police Force would also be deployed around the important polling stations to maintain peace.
Similarly, additional police force would be deployed around 463 polling stations, declared as most sensitive, besides 1392 sensitive polling stations. The police would ensure complete ban on any type of display of weapons on the occasion of by-polls.
The provincial police chief has also directed the police to take strict action against the violators in order to fully implement the code of conduct devised for the polls by the election commission of Pakistan.
