Cases of missing persons registered, SC told
ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court was informed on Friday that FIRs of missing persons have been registered in the various police stations.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali was hearing the cases of missing persons.
City Police Officer, Rawalpindi, Inspector General Police, Islamabad, and the DIG Toba Tek Singh appeared before the bench and submitted their reports.
They informed the court that on the directives of the court FIRs of the missing persons have been registered and the SHO and the officer, who earlier refused to lodge the FIR of missing persons have been suspended.
CPO Rawalpindi Azhar Hameed Khokkar has informed the court that an FIR for the recovery of Haji Zafar Baloch has been registered at Airport Police Station.
He said that SHO of that police station, who refused to register the FIR on the complaint of Baloch’s family, has been suspended.
IG, Islamabad Wajid Durani told that on the complaint of Zohra Begum the FIR of Fazal Rab Pirzada has been lodged at Kohsar Police, Islamabad. Pirzada disappeared in 2004.
DPO Toba Tek Singh informed the court about the registration of Zafar Iqbal’s FIR.
Justice Javed said that police culture need to be changed, adding it was responsibility of the police officers to help the people instead creating difficulties for them.
The relatives of missing persons had complained to the Court during the hearing of the case erstwhile that though they have evidences about their loved ones besides that police refuse to register the cases.
The three-member bench had ordered the Inspectors General of Police (IGP) of all the provinces and Islamabad to register FIR of those missing persons about whom the families have evidences.
Justice Javed had said that if that did not happen then the IGP of that area would be held responsible.
