CM for expediting drive against land-grabbers
Says Lahore, Faisalabad operation be implemented across province

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned for expediting the campaign against “Qabza mafia” and activating committees set up in this regard at the district level.
He said the model adopted for the elimination of land-grabbers and encroachments in Lahore and Faisalabad should be implemented in all the districts of the province and a special cell also be set up for reviewing the action taken against “Qabza mafia” at the district level.
He was presiding over a meeting to review the campaign against land grabbers in the province here on Thursday.
The chief minister said that illegal occupation of properties and land had assumed the form of industry and the menace speedily spread during the last 10 years with the connivance of the departments concerned. He said the present government had decided to strictly crush the mafia and the operations conducted for the purpose in Lahore and Faisalabad had yielded positive results and state land worth billions of rupees had been retrieved.
Shahbaz said that usurping right of anybody was tantamount to murder of justice and the government would never allow it. He appreciated the DCOs of Lahore and Faisalabad for the elimination of “Qabza mafia” and illegal encroachments and the operation in all the districts of province should be completed within one month.
He also issued directions for constituting a special cell at provincial level, headed by MPA Tahir Ahmad Sidhu, which would regularly review measures taken against “Qabza mafia”. He also issued directions for constitute a special committee, headed by Rana Sanaullah Khan, which would submit its recommendations after reviewing the relevant laws and amendments.
