27 arrested for smuggling, other offences
LAHORE – Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) arrested 27 culprits on charges of their involvement in smuggling illegal firearms and narcotics, and for other offences during a massive crackdown against the desperate criminals on Monday.
Police recovered huge quantity of narcotics, liquor, firearms, cash, cell phones and other stolen valuables from their possession.
The arrested men have been identified as Ghafoor, Ramzan, Zulfiqar, Muhammad Aslam, Shehzad, Zubair, Sikhawat Ali, Waris, Riasat Ali, Muhammad Ramzan, Younis, Irfan, Munir, Younis, Sajjad, Javed, Iqbal Falak Sher, Sagheer Ahmad, Farman Ali, Sajjad, Liaqat Ali, Khizer Hayat, Nadeem Ahmad, Iqbal, Nazir Ahmed and Shahid Iqbal.
PHP teams have handed over the accused to local police for further action. Meanwhile, Nawab Town police have apprehended a notorious drug peddler named Zulfiqar Masih alias Japhi, a resident of Raiwind Road. Police have also recovered 1,010 gram charas from his possession.
