Holding of open court series will continue across the Punjab with a view to provide free and fair justice on the spot to innocent people.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman while addressing to citizens who appeared in an open court at Misri Shah, Lahore, today. IGP, Punjab said that protection of lives and properties of the people is the prime responsibility of the Police Department and no negligence in this regard would be accepted in the Police Force. He further said that due to open court gap between the Public and the Police has been bridged.
A woman r/o Misri Shah told IGP that some un-identified persons fired at his house in Shadbagh area and officials of the relevant Police Station were not cooperating. IGP ordered to SHO, Shadbagh on the spot that the lady should be provided all type of protection. Another businessman of Misri Shah complained that during the marriage ceremony of his son Dacoits snatched Rs.61 lacs and nothing has been recovered so far. Similarly, another resident of Sultan Pura told the IGP that her real brother occupied his house and she has been forced to live in rented house. She requested that her house should be vacated.
While listening the complaints of the people Provincial Police Chief directed CCPO, Lahore, Aslam Tareen, DIG Operation, Rai Muhammad Tahir and SSP Operations, Lahore Sajjad Hassan Manjj for immediate redressal of these complaints. He said that high handedness of Police Officers would not be acceptable because provision of transparent justice to the people is the basic responsibility of the force.
Later, DIG Operations, Rai Muhammad Tahir and SSP Operations, Lahore Sajjad Hassan Manjj listened the complaints of the people more than two hours and issued orders on the spot to resolve them.
