LAHORE: The operations wing of Lahore police claim to have arrested 170 suspects of 60 criminal gangs, traced 215 cases against them and recovered booty worth more than Rs8.2 million from them during April.
Police further claimed to have arrested 1,559 proclaimed offenders and court absconders during the month. According to a handout on Tuesday, police registered 404 cases against people having illicit weapons and recovered nine Kalashnikovs, 31 rifles, 27 guns, 341 revolvers & pistols and 29,641 bullets and cartridges from the possession of the suspects.
As many as 678 cases were registered against drug peddlers, 693 of them were arrested and 34kg heroine, 130kg charas, two kg opium and 11,856 bottles of liquor were recovered from them. Moreover, 144 cases were registered against 474 arrested suspects who possessed Rs400,000 stake money.
