A Policeman should become a symbol of peace and security so that when a citizen would see him in uniform he must feel secure instead off terror.

This was stated by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Muhammad Habib-ur- Rehman, while addressing at passing out parade ceremony held at Police Training School Chung, Lahore today. Among 840 passed out Jawans 265 completed the 6th Upper and 575 Intermediate class course.

Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman said that the basic job of the Policemen is to provide justice and relief to the victims and to root out crimes from the society. He said the Jawans, as they were entering in practical filed they should adopt all out efforts to change the police stations into “Dar-ul-Aman” in order to change Thana Culture as per the vision of the Chief Minster, Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif. He also warned that there would be zero tolerance for the corrupt policemen. He said that the cops involved in bribe would be kicked out form the department.

Due to the terrorism, responsibilities of the police department increased manifold. Elite Police Force and Police Jawans are being providing latest & sophisticated training to counter the emerging challenges of terrorism in which thousands of people lost their lives including security personnel and martyred in the war against terrorism added, the IGP.

It is pertinent to mention that during the last four years about 350 Jawans had sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while protecting people of the province. Keeping in view the valuable sacrifices laid by Police Jawans a proposal has been furnished before the Chief Minster Punjab, for induction of two children each martyred in Police Department.

Provincial Police Chief distributed certificates and cash awards among the outstanding performers of both the courses.
