PO carrying Rs1 million head money held

GUJRANAWALA, Oct 5: The police claim to have arrested an absconder of black book carrying a Rs1 million head money and 26 members of half a dozen gangs of robbers besides seizing looted goods and arms from their possession on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters, City Police Officer Ehsan Tufail said Umer Sana alias Umeri of Irfat Colony was wanted in 10 cases of dacoity, robbery, murder and other heinous crimes while his name had been entered in the black book on Oct 7 last year.

He said the Tetley police also arrested five criminals, including a woman, who were involved in looting buses. Two rifles, as many pistols and looted goods were recovered from accused Iftikhar, Amjad, Kharo and their accomplices.

The Naushera Virkan police arrested two accused Akbar and Abdul Rashid and recovered a Kalashnikov and pistols from them. They had killed motorcyclist Anwar on resistance during a robbery bid.

Police also arrested six other criminals. Wazirabad police arrested five accused and recovered half a dozen stolen bikes and looted goods from their possession. SSP (Operations) Ahmad Nasir Virk, SSP (Investigation) Muhammad Awais and other police officers were also present.
