The police claimed to have arrested a dacoit and recovered a pick-up, Rs 57,000 and a mobile phone snatched from a citizen near Dharabi village on Friday.
M Sharif, a resident of Mari village,told the police that he with his nephew M Zubair was supplying greengrocery in the pick-up (LES-3621) when four armed people riding a car stopped him at gunpoint. He said that the car riders had deprived him of the pick-up, cash and a mobile phone. The Neela police chased the dacoits, arrested one of them and recovered the booty.
The dacoit was identified as Farzand Ali. Raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining dacoits.
Meanwhile, four people took away 12 batteries from a mobile tower near Khewal village. Ghulam Abbas said that he with security guard M Nawaz was on duty when some people entered the tower on the pretext of fetching water. He said that he went to bring water from his house and when he came back, 12 batteries worth Rs 100,000 were missing. The police have registered a case.
