LAHORE, Oct 3: Police arrested on Monday a terror suspect who had fled after leaving a quantity of explosives with a burnt motorcycle in Faisal Town a few days ago.

Sources privy to the investigation told Dawn that Moaaz, son of Abdul Karim of Township, was picked by a team of Crimes Investigation Agency police from a Bund Road locality on the indication of his father who was already in police custody.

Moaaz, who got training in making bombs in Afghanistan, had been involved in planting low-intensity time devices at shrines in Garhi Shahu and Green Town and other places of the city. Police are conducting raids to arrest his accomplices.

“We have taken a couple of terror suspects into custody and are interrogating them to verify their involvement in carrying out low-intensity blasts in different parts of the city,” a senior police official said.

A few days ago, the suspect was transporting the explosives on a motorcycle owned by his father when he slipped from the two-wheeler in B-Block Faisal Town and his bike caught fire. A small quantity of explosive also caught fire.

Police had seized the explosives and a time device from the spot and registered a case against the suspect under terrorism and explosive acts.
