Raids to be conducted against drug pushers
LAHORE–City police on Thursday claimed that under the ‘Drug Free City Project’, joint teams comprising officials of the police, Anti-Narcotics Force and Excise and Drug department had been constituted to root out the menace of drugs from the provincial capital.
The Enforcement Teams would carry out joint raids against drug-peddlers at divisional level.
According to a police handout, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen said that in order to eliminate sale of narcotics and to reduce drug use in the City, Enforcement Teams have been constituted at divisional level under the supervision of SP, SHO, ANF HC, Excise Inspector, Drug Inspector.
The police spokesman said that in this connection, a third meeting of Multi-sectoral Task force for Lahore Drug Free City Project was held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of CCPO Aslam Tareen, who is also the Chairman of Lahore Drug Free City Project here at Capital City Police Headquarters.
Update of projects, under taken so far, was reviewed in detail and it was decided to further speed up the process of making Lahore a truly drug free city. CCPO apprised the members that drug seizure has increased tremendously during the month of March.
The meeting also decided to award commendation certificates to the police personnel on outstanding performance in order to ensure the success of Lahore Drug Free City Project.
The meeting was further apprised that divisional SSP/Operations have been directed to update list of top hundred drug peddlers in Lahore in order to launch comprehensive drive against them.
Furthermore, the Police Emergency 15 is being sensitised to disseminate information regarding narcotics cases to the divisional SPs, whereas a comprehensive list is being prepared for rehabilitation and detoxification of drug users in the City.
