‘Kidnappers’ held; boy recovered

Gujrat, Jan 31: Police have recovered the son of a Norwegian national of Pakistan origin kidnapped for a Rs10million ransom three days ago from Qali Garan locality of Lalamusa city, arresting a woman and her alleged accomplice.

Seven-year-old Sikandar, son of Mirza Abdul Hameed, a Norwegian national, had been kidnapped on Tuesday evening while returning home from a tuition center.
The kidnappers later contacted Mirza and demanded Rs10 million as ransom for his son’s release.

The police traced the location in Lahore where the boy had been kept by the kidnappers by intercepting the cell phone calls made to the victim’s family.
Later they arrested a woman, Aqsa, and her alleged accomplice Akhtar, both residents of the Lalamusa. Akhtar is said to be a relative of the boy’s mother.

After the boy’s recovery and the arrests the police released Kiran Bibi who had been nominated in the case by the parents of the boy as a suspect.

The boy was later handed over to his parents by the police officials.
