CIA claims nine gangsters arrested

LAHORE, Jan 31: The Sadar CIA claim to have arrested nine members of an inter-district gang of criminals involved in a number of cases of dacoity and robbery on Thursday.

According to a press release, Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Aslam Tareen, in view of increasing incidents of crimes, gave the task of apprehending criminals to the Operations and Investigation wings.

DIG (Investigation) Chaudhry Shafiq and DIG (Operations) Muhammad Tahir Rai constituted a police team headed by in charge of Organized Crime Sadar Mian Shafqat Ali.

The police team nabbed nine members of the inter-district Khada dacoit gang, including Jehangir alias Khada, Tauqeedul Hasan, Kashif, Nadeem, Sarwar, Imran Ali, Shabbir, Mudassar Nazar and Abu Bakar.

Two stolen motorcycles, Rs575,000 in cash and firearms were recovered from the possession of the criminals.

Their three other accomplices — Malik Ali, Malik Amjad and Babar — are still at large and the police are conducting raids for their arrest.

During interrogation, the criminals confessed to more than 40 incidents of dacoity and robbery in Iqbal Town, Sabzazar, Kot Lakhpat, Barki, Nawab Town, Shahdara Town, Hanjarwal, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Renala Khurd Sadar, Okara, Pattoki Sadar, Phoolnagar and Kot Radha Kishan.

DIG (Investigation) Chaudhry Shafique Ahmed has announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the police team.
